Prior to and during the writing and production of this Album I was going through a period of dramatic change. I had embarked on a journey to address my inner and my external conflicts.
Pessimistic and jaded are words I have heard around me too often but I cant deny this. I needed to work out what I needed to do in order to regain my old silly self. Winter is coming was my start point.
Whilst I have expressed my feelings on how life seems in a western society I am also injecting a little direction or hope, possibly to help my journey as at the time I had not made the changes.
My start point on these lyrics was the lovely Tony Blair and his responses to the Iraq inquiry…” So walk with me and those who made this winter come will freeze”

I think Graeme started this one and we worked on it as a band. My favorite section is the marimba part in the middle.

Winter is coming. The title might suggest the imminent arrival of festive cheer and merriment. The winter referred to here is bleak, cold and ruinous.
Lyrics
It makes no difference what we do
They kick and punch and then they sue
Just leave me here to struggle through
Won't deal with life the way they do
Society’s a business coup
Exhausting time and killing you
I realise it should not be
This price for life is killing me
So walk with me
And those who made this winter come will freeze
An icy wind blows from the past
Are you astounded by the blast
We must consider what we've done
Now we pay for what's to come
The nights are long the shadow cast
Winter's settled in so fast
I realise its not for me
This price for life is killing me
This price for life is killing me
So walk with me
And those who made this winter come will freeze
It makes no difference what we do
They kick and punch and then they sue
Just leave me here to struggle through
Won't deal with life the way they do
This price for life is killing me
So walk with me
And those who made this winter come will freeze
